BAR is seeking a Safety Admin Support to join the BAR Team.

About the Position

The Safety Admin Support will support the development, implementation and maintenance of BAR’s Health & Safety Programs. This position is to ensure that BAR complies and adheres to Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) guidelines to reduce work related injuries. This position handles all paperwork and correspondence for operation of the company’s safety program and the company’s vehicle maintenance.  The Safety Admin Support is responsible for coordinating safety training for all BAR employees.

More specifically, your duties and responsibilities will be to:

  • Plan and implement OHS policies and programs.
  • Maintain and update BAR’s COR certified safety program for Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety related topics.
  • Maintain BAR’s safety manual.
  • Oversee the annual audit of the safety program.
  • Complete safety orientation for new employees.
  • Research, coordinate and facilitate various safety training courses for all staff and track employee safety tickets.
  • Update various accounts (ISNetworld and ComplyWorks) with safety and quality measures to maintain a favorable client ranking.
  • Coordinate the monthly and annual maintenance and inspections of BAR’s fleet of vehicles, buildings lift, fire alarms, extinguisher, emergency lighting, and door, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), personal monitors and sprinkler systems.
  • Schedule and lead group safety meetings.
  • Research safety best practices and ensure company’s safety policies/procedures are compliant to industry, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Issue communication to staff regarding safety updates, policy changes and company procedures re safe work practice.
  • Complete various monthly and annual reporting for management.
  • Track costs of vehicle repair, fuel, and PPE.
  • Provide representation for the JWHSC.
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees’ safety.
  • Oversee and assist with building maintenance and security support as required.
  • Provide backup for reception desk as required.
  • Adheres to and promotes BAR’s Health & Safety Program and Quality System.
  • Performs duties as assigned.

About the Candidate

You will need a Diploma in Office Administration and/or Health & Safety Administrator designation is preferred.

You will also have:

  • Good communication, interpersonal, presentation and organization skills.
  • A proactive and self-directed approach with the ability to work on your own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to manage workload and work to tight deadlines in the face of changing priorities.

  • Professional approach when dealing with employees and external contacts.
  • Excellent knowledge of applicable industry safety standards, codes, and practices.
  • Valid driver’s licence with clean driver’s abstract.
